Marcela Garcia

Features Producer/Reporter

Marcela Garcia jumped on board and  joined the KTTZ-TV family in February 2011. You can see her on Channel 5's new local shows such as Keeping It Local and Locally Owned which highlight local people, organizations, and businesses in Lubbock and the surrounding south plains region. Also, look for her on Inside Texas Tech with Chancellor Kent Hance where she helps report all things in the Texas Tech University System.

Marcela graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales with a Bachelor’s of Science in Communication. While there she had the opportunity to work for the PBS affiliate KENW’s News 3 New Mexico where she anchored, reported and produced both sports and news broadcasts. Marcela has six years under her belt, working in television for PBS affiliates, and looks forward to many more to come.

A Texas native, Marcela was born in El Paso, TX and since moving away has been anxiously waiting for the chance to move back to her home state.

When Marcela is not on air she loves playing sports competitively, enjoying outdoor activities like rock climbing and camping, and exploring the local culture that makes Lubbock such a great place to live.
