We're a few weeks and a few polls into our summer search for the albums everyone can love, and so far the results have challenged some of our long-held assumptions. Most of you have never heard Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova's soundtrack to the film Once (we thought it was wildly popular).

Life's most profound moments are often its most ordinary: the sound a key makes when you unlock your front door; the feel of your own weight as you rise in the morning or the simple act of breathing. The Los Angeles-based singer Simone White explores the deeper meanings of otherwise mundane moments like these in a new video for the song "Flowers In May," from her latest album Silver Silver.

The results are in and it turns out most of you who voted in our mid-year poll really love Jack White's explosive and eclectic Blunderbuss. But the race was close: White's album beat-out the Alabama Shakes record Boys & Girls by less than 25 votes. Beach House's Bloom, one of the most popular records ever in our First Listen series, came in at third. The Shins' Port Of Morrow and Of Monsters And Men's My Head Is An Animal round out the top five.

First Watch: Emilie Simon's Stop-Animation Fairytale

French electro-pop artist and film composer Emilie Simon isn't super well-known in the U.S., but she's plenty popular in her native country. She hopes to reach a broader audience later this summer with the U.S. release of her new record Franky Knight. Despite the quirky name and dance beats, Simon wrote the sometimes sorrowful album about the death of someone close to her.

In a new video for the song "Franky's Princess," Simon uses a painstakingly produced stop-animation film to tell a classic, fairytale love story.

Bob Boilen and I are taking our show on the road! It's time we busted out of this two-bit joint and mingled with the world's great unwashed. So here's what we're doing: This summer, we'll visit different cities across the country and bring people together to hear and talk about great music.

Look for guest appearances from public radio's galaxy of stars, as well as surprise performances from our favorite artists. It's our version of a "listening party," and we want to see you there. Here's where we're going and when (more dates to be announced):

This Week's Survey: Vote For The Albums Everyone Can Love

When we began our search for the albums everyone can love a couple of weeks ago, we neglected to include the "haven't heard" option in our first survey (hey, this music stuff is hard!). So here it is again for all of you who were forced to vote "no" on The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill or Kind Of Blue, when you actually hadn't heard them.
