24 Frames Reviews: Star Trek: Into Darkness

My voyage with the Star Trek universe was captained by my grandfather Glen, or Papaw as we called him. He loved the show and the movies, and shared them with my brothers and me when we would visit him during the summers of our childhood. I never cared for the show, but the movies have always been close to my heart. Like GI Joe and Star Wars, both gems of childhood, I’m always precarious to try to rule a fair verdict on their re-births into the pop culture lexicon through film and other mediums, but who am I kidding, I review them all anyway.

Beer and Good Cheer in The Hub City

Some Lubbock locals may have been too tied up with Mother’s Day arrangements to slow down for a quick beer this past weekend. Reasonably, many would not consider the bar environment an appropriate setting to bring mom along. However, being that Lubbock’s 2nd annual Blues and Brews Festival took place on Saturday May 11th a few locals managed to kill two birds with one stone.

24 Frames Reviews: Iron Man 3

“Iron Man 3” is now officially the 4th film to feature Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark the billionaire playboy comedy-genius who always manages to save the world. In IM3 Tony is suffering some sort of mental break down which is no surprise as you could imagine flying in a metal suit, fighting brands of bad guys, and orbiting into outer space could lead anyone to mental anguish. I know just watching all the high flying action leaves me a little weazy.
